Wambule is the language of the people of the same name residing primarily in the hills of eastern Nepal. It is a Kiranti language, and thereby a member of the Tibeto-Burman or Sino-Tibetan language family. Working from his extensive field experience, Opgenort provides ethnographic information, including social customs and a history of the Wambule people. He follows with a comprehensive description of Wambule grammar and phonology, and Wambule-English/English-Wambule lexicons. He includes a collection of 16 texts, including personal experiences, a recitation from oral tradition, historical and mythological tales, and even a recipe, rendered in Wambule with direct translations in English.
