The Danish National Research Foundation and the Aarhus University Research Foundation helped support publication of this two-volume set, which offers documentation of excavations undertaken between 1985 and 2002, involving the cooperative efforts of Ukrainian, Danish, Russian, and American archaeologists. Introductory essays discuss the history of the research, the main stages of building activity (from early stone constructions through sophisticated houses and streets), the building remains, and the finds. Catalogued articles include painted tableware, pottery (of various colors, uses), lamps sculpture, and objects of stone, bone, glass, and metal, as well as graffiti, weights, and tiles. The first volume contains textual descriptions; the second volume has the illustrative plates.
