Opgenort's (linguistics, Leiden U.) is the first-ever published detailed analysis of the phonology, morphology and syntax of Jero, an endangered Tibeto-Burman language spoken by a branch of the Kiranti ethnic group living in the hill tracts of eastern Nepal. The book is a sequel to the author's 2004 text A Grammar of Wambule the Himalayan language most closely related to Jero and is based on data collected during six trips made to Nepal between November 1996 and December 2004. Also featuring a comparative analysis of the Jero and other subgroups in the Kiranti language family, the text serves as a reference work for Tibeto-Burman linguistics, language typology and linguistic theory.
