The six new chapters of the second edition of this thorough account reflect the many events that have occurred since the 1st ed. was published in 1994. Lee Leonard, a senior Ohio political journalist, contributes a chapter that provides an overview of the period from 1994-2006. The end of Governor Voinovich's first and all of his second term are described in a chapter by journalist Sandy Theis. Journalist Joe Hallett is the author of the chapter on Governor Bob Taft's two terms. Also new are the chapters on changes in the Ohio legislature and its judiciary and Lamis's (political science, Case Western Reserve U., Cleveland) chapter on electoral politics in the state. The latter chapter will be of interest to readers outside of Ohio for its broad treatment of the question of electoral politics in the U.S. in the 21st century.
