A hassid from the Zhikov dynasty born in the 1890s, Ekstein published his only book in Hebrew, in Vienna, in 1921. Parts of it were translated into Yiddish during the 1930s, but Starrett, who has written widely in the hassidic tradition, is the first to put it into English. The work combines psychology, kabbalah, therapy, and meditation to instruct readers on gaining self-awareness through consideration of others. Annotation c.
