A lavishly illustrated book on the close relationship between de Lempicka’s art and the world of fashion. Tamara de Lempicka (May 16, 1898–March 18, 1980)—an icon of the Jazz Age and Art Deco style—was the first woman artist to be a glamour star and a fashion icon in her own lifetime. The impetus for this book arose after finding some rare photographs in which Tamara de Lempicka posed as a model for a French fashion magazine. These images—together with her work for the German magazine Die Dame, the photos of her signed "Madame D’Ora," and her paintings in which women are dressed in clothes inspired by Schiaparelli, Vionnet, and Grès—confirm the close relationship between de Lempicka’s art and the world of fashion, and her ties with certain fashion designers previously ignored.
