The guide, part of an eight volume series (available individually and as a set) written for farmers, homesteaders, and experienced gardeners transitioning to organic methods, was originally titled Vegetable Crop Health: Helping Nature Control Diseases and Pests Organically (Northeast Organic Farming Association, 2004) and has been updated and revised by Chelsea Green. Coverage includes natural models of production, plant susceptibility, genetic resistance, crop cultural practices, rescue treatments, protection from birds and mammals, designing the farm to reduce pests, diversity, crop rotation, identifying pests, and crop-by-crop pests and practices.
