Most of the 16 papers were delivered at the weekly seminars of research group called The Interaction of Nomadic Conquerors with Sedentary People in China and the Middle East, or during the conference Euroasian Nomads and the Outside World, held in June 2000 at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where the group is based. They are intended to deepen the understanding of the complex interaction between the various pastoral nomadic and various sedentary populations in Eurasia from ancient times through the Middle Ages and into the modern period.
