For mental health and education professionals and graduate students, DuPaul and Kern (school psychology and special education, Lehigh U.) detail early assessment and interventions for children ages two to five who have or are at risk for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). They present a three-tiered model for prevention and intervention developed with colleagues and students at Lehigh U. and Lehigh Valley Health Network, which can be implemented at home or in preschool settings, with description of specific behavioral and academic interventions for each, screening and assessment, and components like group-based parent education, home-based coaching, assessment-based intervention, universal intervention, and small-group skills instruction.
