The Berthier-Delagarde collection of antique and medieval jewelry, now in the British museum, has never before been completely catalogued. Now Andrási has carefully examined each piece. The jewelry is listed by purpose from earrings, brooches, necklaces and belt buckles to mounts and horse harnesses. She describes size, metal content, possible century and place of origin, giving a comparative bibliography. There are black and white images of the pieces with color plates at the end. Other chapters give a brief history of the Crimea, notes on the various styles, and objects outside of other classifications. This is very meticulous work marred by a lack of careful proofreading.
