Choice-of-law is a procedural stage in the litigation of a case involving the resolution of conflicts of laws in different jurisdictions. In the American case, argues Symeonides (Willamette College of Law), there has been both an academic and a judicial revolution in this area of the law, albeit confined primarily to the choice of law in torts and contracts. He chronicles the development of this "revolution" from its origins in the 1960s to the present, concentrating on the past two decades. The choice-of-law revolution is explored as it relates to loss-distribution tort conflicts, conduct-regulation tort conflicts, and products liability.
