This volume tells the story of Jesse Leroy Brown, who became the Navy's first black pilot. Taylor consulted Brown's training and flight records and logs and includes quotes from them, in addition to letters. He describes Brown's training, experiences in combat, personal life, and other details. The book was originally published in 1998. There is no bibliography.
