This work offers students and others the opportunity to study and compare consumer protection laws and policies of countries around the world. It explores the different approaches to the regulation of advertising, sales practices, credit, product safety and quality, privacy, e-commerce, and unfair contract terms, and looks at enforcement of consumer protection laws by public bodies and by individual consumers. The main focus is on the European Community and the US, but other countries are also considered. The book is built around primary sources including edited laws, directives, court cases, administrative regulations, commission studies, and law journal excerpts.
