It's hard to believe a town billed as the Seafood Capital of the World suffered a famine in the 1720s that killed off over 500 of its citizens, but this is what Boudreaux relates in the first chapter titled "Coastal Native Americans." From the native inhabitants through the influx of French, Spanish, and up to the Vietnamese immigrants, Biloxi, Mississippi has an ever-changing history affected by famine, wars, and hurricanes.
