Fourteen American academics and practitioners contribute 11 chapters to a text for novice and seasoned clinicians on the treatment of conduct-disordered youth. Coverage includes an overview of conduct disorder, including its characteristics, incidence and prevalence rates, and etiologic factors, followed by the case of Michael, a composite portrait of a 13-year-old boy developed by the authors based on the hundreds of patients they have seen in their practices. In subsequent chapters, expert therapists representing eight different theoretical perspectives describe how they would treat Michael. These chapters explain the theoretical process and offer insights into the practices of therapists of different orientations. A concluding chapter summarizes and compares the eight treatment models and develops a comparison grid of the similarities and differences.
