American art historian, curator, and photographer Cordova began researching the organization in the 1990s, and was able to interview the founders before some of them died. He explains that Con Safo was one of the earliest and most significant of the Chicano art groups, and one of the longest lived. He traces its history from the 1960s when it formed as part of the nascent Chicano movement until the mid 1970s when it petered out. Four documents of the organization are appended.
