Taguchi (second-language acquisition, pragmatics, and Japanese language and culture; Carnegie Mellon U.) reports and interprets the results of a longitudinal study of pragmatic development among Japanese learners of English in Japan. The study looked for patterns and rates of development across different pragmatic functions and attributes, and what types of learning resources and experiences are available in the context and how they shape developmental trajectories of individuals.
