Bibliographies and references in the 13 selected papers from the December 1996 Concepts of Disease in Ancient Babylonia conference in London are often not up-to-date because of the decade delay in publishing, but the papers themselves were deemed still important enough to offer to a larger audience. Historians of medicine and philologists consider such topics as stroke and facial palsy in Babylonian texts, the demon of the roof, Babylonian contributions to Hippocratic medicine, and ancient and contemporary management of a disease of unknown aetiology.
