During the course of his work as historian for the Oneida Indian Nation of New York, Wonderley, ran across a manuscript in 2001 in the Hamilton College Library by Hope Emily Allen, a non-native. It consisted of a series of narratives that she had collected from Oneida informants more than 50 years earlier.
