Starting with a personal example of a transformative corrective experience (CE), Castonguay (Pennsylvania State U.) and Hill (U.of Maryland, College Park) introduce 17 chapters that describe the central role of CE in the therapeutic change process. Although the CE concept originated in psychoanalytic circles, international contributors discuss its theoretical and applied relevance to cognitive behavioral and humanistic-experiential approaches and the supervisory relationship as well.
