Two subjects usually dealt with separately, the economics of the firm and the theory of the firm, are here approached with a "bridge-building objective," state editors (both are economists) Dietrich (U. of Sheffield, UK) and Krafft (U. of Nice Sophia Antipolis and CNRS-GREDEG, France). They discuss the rationale for this approach in detail in their introductory chapter.
