Ruel (University of Twente, the Netherlands) gathers international contributors in business administration, political science, and international studies (most from the University of Twente) to explore studies of commercial diplomacy in the global economy. Concepts of commercial diplomacy are examined from the perspectives of political science, international relations, and international business in order to shed light on international business-government relationships at the meso and micro levels. Contributors stress that individuals matter. The book begins with a survey of research on commercial diplomacy and its implications, then moves on to consider topics such as the value of commercial diplomacy from an international entrepreneurial perspective, the role of commercial diplomats as corporate entrepreneurs, and success factors and barriers for foreign firms entering the US federal procurement market.
