Over many years of teaching undergraduate modern algebra, Miller (mathematics, State U. of New York-Potsdam) teased out what seemed to be the essential topics, and found more and more activities for students to work on in class together and with her. These activities she has categorized into projects--a set of related problems to solve. Each core chapter has several. Some of them are mere calculations for practice using concepts like operations on sets, permutations, cosets, or field extensions. Others require proofs.
