Rae (child and educational psychology, U. of East London, UK), who has worked with children, adults, and families in clinical and educational contexts, offers a resource for primary teachers wanting to help children ages six to 12 understand and cope with anger in an emotionally literate way. She outlines a program that can be used in nurture groups and mainstream and special contexts consisting of 26 sessions linked to each letter of the alphabet and one aspect of anger management. They include lessons, ideas for reinforcement, and follow-up work, and teach skills, strategies, activities, and tools for anger triggers, cooling down, learning to tell others about feelings, using humor, listening, saying no, writing problems down, learning the right vocabulary to express anger, and others. This edition adds information on recent initiatives in schools, models and tips for coping with anger, new activities and ideas, and more information for children ages five to nine.
