Dietz and O'Neill, ecological activists formerly and presently working at the Center for the Advancement of the Steady State Economy, present a comprehensive interrogation of the economics and politics of growth. They advocate a steady-state economy, governed by a principle of enough, which they define in economic, eudaimonic and ecological terms. Organization is in three main sections. In the first they pose the basic questions of the economics of enough and in the second section they explore strategies, including limiting resource use and waste, distributing income and wealth, work-time reduction and socially or ecologically necessary jobs, rethinking commerce, and changing the ways we measure progress. The third section considers advanced topics in the economics of enough, from changing consumer behavior to agitating for national action and international cooperation to engaging the media.
