This work recounts the first siege of the Civil War, the spring 1862 siege and battle at Yorktown, Virginia, which lasted 29 days. In addition to providing details on the siege, the authors analyze the role of the Yorktown siege in the 1862 Peninsula Campaign and the final battles near Richmond. The book includes b&w historical illustrations and photos, plus a color historical illustration on the front cover. Quarstein is former director of the Virginia War Museum.
