The subject of this stuyd is Emile Cioran's The Transfiguration of Romania, written in 1936 in Romanian and officially translated into French in 2009 by Alain Paruit. The core of the study is the theory formulated by contemporary French critics Pierre-Yves Boissau and Alexandra Laignel-Lavastine, who portrayed Cioran's French work as an enormous facade intended to hide his early political ideas. This study attempts to give a more accurate interpretation of Cioran's 'Romanian' past.
