VandenBerg (neonatology, U. of California-San Francisco) and Hanson (childhood special education, San Francisco State U.) originally wrote two books, one for professionals and one for parents of babies born prematurely and who were making the transition from hospital to home. Here they have combined the two, so some parts will be more interesting than others to particular readers. Among the topics are the impact of newborn intensive care experience, bringing baby home from the neonatology intensive care unit, understanding early infant behavior and development, supporting families, and finding resources for children with special needs.
