Brunvald (emeritus, English, U. of Utah) provides a revised edition of his encyclopedia of urban legends, those popular 'true stories' that are more likely to have little if any basis in fact. Originally passed along orally as older legends were, the Internet has become a natural for spreading these entertaining, bewildering, and sometimes gruesome stories. This two-volume set can be considered both an anthology of stories and as a very informative reference for students, journalists, folklorists, and others interested in urban legends.
