This work collects 173 more columns from Klinkenborg's long-running New York Times column "The Rural Life." Chronicling Year 1 through Year 11 on his small farm in upstate New York, the author writes of the daily triumphs and losses and reflects on larger issues such as land use. The quality of the writing and the depth of reflection separates these stories from the usual down-on-the-farm narratives. The book is illustrated with whimsical b&w drawings by Nigel Peake.
