The careers of conservative Supreme Court Justice Tom Clark and his more liberal son, Attorney General Ramsey Clark, reflect the ideological spectrum on major issues of the second half of the 20th century, especially shifts in interpreting the Constitution on individual rights versus national interests. In this biographical work, Wohl (American University Washington College of Law) analyzes their approaches to issues such as civil rights, presidential power, and government surveillance, and examines their interactions with presidents and other major domestic and international political figures, including J.
