<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal>The spectacular frescoes by Johann von Schraudolph at Speyer Cathedral are the very last testimony of a bygone era: they are one of the only murals in the style of the Nazarene movement surviving the bombings of World War II. After being locked away for more than 50 years, the “Twelve Apostles” are now on display and explored in this history of Nazarene frescoes. The book focuses on the creation of the 12 large-format frescoes known as the <I>Twelve Apostles </I>and the restoration process art historians and scientists are using to bring the painting back to life.
