Jordan (PhD, modern British history, Louisiana State U.) examines the influence of prominent American fundamentalist evangelical Protestants on the development of the career of Northern Ireland Protestant leader Ian Paisley, arguing that the Americans, including such figures as Bob Jones, Jr. and Carl McIntire, and their particular brand of political-religious fundamentalism played central roles in the refashioning process Paisley went through in the 1960s, when he began to marry religion and politics in the manner that would propel him to the forefront of Northern Irish anti-Catholic unionism.
