This landscape architecture book focuses on what author Gina Crandell calls "the largest living architectural structures," the masses of trees planted in large urban park and building projects. Crandell is a landscape architect in private practice whose former career as an academic professor included Harvard's Graduate School of Design and the Rhode Island School of Design. The book is written as a series of case studies useable by architects, landscape architects, and programs in landscape architecture. The visual design is sophisticated and clear. The illustrations take up as much space as the text; the vast majority are color site photographs, though plans are often included and architectural renderings make an occasional small appearance.
