One of the most palpable trends in Irish culture of the Celtic Tiger years, 1996-2006, contends Moynihan (20th-century literature, U. of Exeter, Britain), was the juxtaposition, literal or implied, of narratives of Irish emigration to the US with those of immigration to Ireland. She is particularly concerned with the representation, direct or oblique, of white Irish and Irish American interactions with African immigrants, one of the groups deemed problematic, one of the diasporas that are being attracted to Ireland.
