This comprehensive volume examines the history of lowrider automobiles and lowrider culture within the Latino community in the United States. Beginning with a history of the trend and its association with Pachuco and Zoot Suit movements of the mid twentieth century, the volume examines the popular image of the lowrider in art, media, and music as well as issues within the community such as the role of women in lowrider culture, lowrider clubs and associations and the processes of building lowrider vehicles.
