Contributors in information science, library and information studies, and museum studies offer an introduction to the theory and practice of the interdisciplinary field of digital humanities: the use of computational or digital methods in humanities research and the application of humanities methods to research into digital objects or phenomena. Special emphasis is given to the involvement of the public in digital resource creation and design, and the application of digital technologies to cultural heritage. Each chapter introduces a thematic area, such as image processing or social media, explains why it's important, considers current research and practice, and discusses relevant debates and controversies. International case studies demonstrate partnerships between technical research and humanities scholarship. Each chapter closes with an extensive bibliography of print and online resources. Each chapter also includes QR codes linking to a companion blog with case studies and other resources. The book includes b&w photos, images, and screenshots and will be of interest to researchers, librarians, students, and professionals involved in the digital humanities.
