Early chapters overview the role of counseling in practice, the principles of positive psychology, and skills and attitudes of competent counselors. Later chapters are devoted to counseling specific populations, including parents of children with a disability, children who have communication disorders, adult clients who will improve with treatment, and those whose condition will deteriorate. The book also provides workshop formats for teaching resilience to families and clients. This second edition takes into account the evolution of theory in positive psychology.
