Editors Jones, Lewis, and Reffitt take on the question of human flourishing as a function of character, analyzing it from an Aristotelian perspective in the context of modern education. The first five chapters discuss the theory of character, character education, and the relevance of values to actual behavior, drawing on psychological and neurobiological research as well as ethical and moral theory, case studies of guilt in soldiers, and meta-analysis of the motivation behind valuing certain values in pupils.
