The aim is to understand and describe the martensitic phase transformation and the process of martensite platelets reorientation. These two keys permit to introduce the main features associated to the shape memory alloys behavior i.e one way shape memory effect , pseudoelasticity , training and recovery. A particular attention is paid to the thermomechanical modeling at the macroscopic scale and to applications. A chapter is devoted to magnetic shape memory alloys
