<p><span>Moving from learning <em>what to think</em> to learning <em>how to think.</em></span></p><p><span>We must move from the linear approach to thinking (what to think) to systemic learning (how to think.) <strong>The Thinking Effect</strong> shows how to do this.</span></p><p><span>The <em>what to think</em> style enables individuals to function primarily inside of known and predictable situations -- a valuable skill, but not enough in today's business environment, which is characterized by uncertainty and constant change. The <em>how to think </em>style prepares people to adapt to unique and emerging situations that occur with greater frequency, and at all organizational levels, than ever. Movement along the path from <em>what to think</em> to <em>how to think</em> is called the Value Continuum. People go through three phases on this path, this continuum: time to value, value potential, and value spanning. The outcome of improved thinking for both employee and business is improved value, which in turn improves thinking. This self-reinforcing, self-perpetuating cycle is called the Thinking Effect.<br /></span></p>
