The emphasis of this six part textbook directed towards students of engineering is contained in the last half which covers the design of land, air, and water transportation facilities. The first half serves as a necessary introduction to topics which affect and constrain facility design. Part one deals with the development of the US transportation system and the relationship of the system with governmental regulation and funding.
