Iannis Xenakis (1922-2001) was a Greek composer, music theorist, architect, and engineer known for pioneering the incorporation of mathematical models such as set theory, stochastic processes, and game theory into music as well as seeking to integrate architecture and music in various projects. This volume contains 27 chapters examining the legacies of Xenakis, drawn primarily from the proceedings of the 2010-2011 North America tour of the Iannis Xenakis: Composer, Architect, Visionary exhibition. The papers are organized into sections examining historical and cultural contexts of Xenakis's work, key works and techniques employed by Xenakis, and the application of Xenakis's methods and insights by other artists (as described by the artists themselves).
