Editors Cardeña (psychology, Lund U., Sweden), Lynn (psychology, SUNY--Binghamton), and Krippner (psychology, Saybrook U.) offer this volume on the psychology of unusual, but not necessarily pathological experiential phenomena. Several introductory chapters frame the history of how anomalous experiences have been regarded in both society and the field of psychology, address research methodology, and discuss the relationship of such experiences with psychopathology. Many unusual phenomena are then discussed in detail, including synaesthesia, hallucination, lucid dreaming, identity dissociation, reported alien abduction and psionic experiences, past-life recollection, near-death and mystical experiences, and anomalous healing.
