Gupta, Aggarwal, and Goel present this compilation of major clinical trials in ophthalmology, laid out for use as a study guide by practitioners in training. Most chapters cover one disease topic with between 5-20 studies, including such topics as pathologies of the cornea, glaucoma, retinal vascular occlusions, retinal detachment, retinopathy of prematurity, amblyopia, and neuro-ophthalmology. Diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration are addressed extensively, each receiving four chapters. A handful of chapters are quite specific and include only one or two studies, including endophthalmitis vitrectomy, infant aphakia, collaborative ocular melanoma, and ocular complications of AIDS. Trials are summarized systematically, with concise descriptions of purpose, inclusion and exclusion criteria, methods, results, and conclusions, condensing information on each study into a few pages.
