They cover basic principles and procedures, including the evolution of phonomicrosurgery, anatomy and physiology, and guidelines for patient selection, evaluation and treatment, informed consent, anesthesia, instrumentation and postoperative care, and laser surgery, and new material on extubation after direct laryngoscopy. They then detail surgical techniques for benign structural lesions like nodules, cysts, polyps, and other abnormalities; endoscopic surgery for premalignant and malignant lesions of the larynx; endoscopy and laryngeal framework surgery for neurogenic voice disorders; and the endoscopic management of laryngeal trauma, as well as external procedures. Chapters include steps of each technique, intraoperative photos, and illustrations. Laryngectomy is reviewed only briefly. This edition adds new surgical procedures, such as arytenoid mobilization, vocal fold replantation, and treatment of webs with a new kind of stent. The DVD contains 13 videos of cyst, vessel, and mass excision; fat implantation; scar release; and other surgeries.
