The treatise examines the unconstrained motion of an elastic solid in a Navier-Stokes liquid that occupies the whole space outside of it, under the assumption that a constant body force is acting on the solid. More specifically, it considers the steady motion of the coupled solid-liquid system, which means that there exists a frame with respect to which the relevant governing equations possess a time-independent solution. It proves the existence of such a frame, provided some smallness restrictions are imposed on the physical parameter, and the reference configuration of the solid satisfies suitable geometric properties.
