Moscow's Mathematical Festival is an annual competition attended by hundreds of middle school students since it began in 1990. Here are problems from the Festivals in 1990-2011 for students in sixth and seventh grades to try to solve, either for fun or in some formalized course or competition. There are four sections. First come the problems, then come the answers, but that is only halfway through. The third section provides hints on solving the problem, and the final section explains the solution. The problems are indexed thematically, so that students or instructors can, for example, look through the section on arithmetic and algebra to find problems on factorization and prime numbers.
