Singer (psychology, Connecticut College) describes techniques that bridge the clinical and the theoretical as he describes a multi-dimensional approach that combines major personality studies with empirically based assessment strategies. Working step by step, he keeps in mind the goal of treating the whole person rather than symptoms in "person-related" therapy, describing the three domains of traits, characteristic adaptations and narrative identity, moves to relational dynamics, and then describes the foundations and principles of a person-based psychology and psychotherapy. He then applies the model and the method to a case study.
