This book is based in part on the author’s fieldwork among associations and individuals in the Moroccan women’s movement in 2002-2003. The book details the history of women’s rights in Morocco, especially the impact of the reforms of the Moroccan Family Code of 2004, with a special focus on the challenge of educating Moroccan women about their rights. There is also discussion of the challenges of translating global ideals of equality and women’s human rights into the Moroccan cultural context.
